Split testing and A/B testing are used interchangeably in most context, although their definitions and meanings are quite different. Split testing can be defined as creating two completely different variations of the same landing page with the aim of finding out which versions performs better.

A/B testing on the other hand, only one or two elements on a landing page are altered in the process. This usually happens after split testing has been carried out and the website or landing page owner is looking to optimise even further, increasing their chances of hitting their marketing KPI's.
