Next Episode: EP 405: Empathy, Compassion, and Well Being
When we train ourselves to release the clinging and aversion to our internal and external experiences, avoiding the judgment and identification that gives rise to these unhealthy mental states, we open ourselves up to empathy.
If we become so entangled with our own problems, suffering, needs, and desires, we can’t feel those of another.
If we live in complete solitude, I guess this might be ok.
But as human beings, we live in connection with others.
Whether it is our family, colleagues, neighbors, or any of the various providers of vital services, life requires interaction.
But without empathy, it is interaction without connection and as a result, we suffer.
Would you like to develop more empathy?
