On the 4th Episode of Shout It Out Loudcast's sidecast, The Zeppelin Chronicles, our hosts, Tom & Zeus, along with SIOL sidekick Murph and Jay Scott from The Hook Rocks podcast, review the classic 1971 album, "Led Zeppelin IV."
Led Zeppelin IV sometimes called, untitled, Zoso, runes and even 4 symbols is considered to be not only one of Led Zeppelin's greatest achievements, but also music in general. Filled with immortal songs like, Black Dog, Rock And Roll and perhaps the greatest rock song of all time, Stairway To Heaven, Led Zeppelin IV catapulted Led Zeppelin into a superstardom like very few have ever achieved.
Following Led Zeppelin III lukewarm reception, the band went to work on the next album in October of 1970. The album still featured Led Zeppelin signature sound, blues, heavy metal, rock and roll, blues and folk. However, the songs had more of a punch and more accessible to the public.
Led Zeppelin IV went to Number 2 in the USA and went 24 times platinum in the United States. The album has made almost every possible greatest albums list ever created and so have many of the songs, notably Stairway To Heaven.
The Zeppelin Chronicles breaks down Led Zeppelin IV SIOL style. The guys discuss their connection with the album, the background of the album, the album cover and finally the songs. They rank the songs, then rank the album and album cover against the three previous Led Zeppelin albums reviewed.
See who thinks Led Zeppelin IV is a masterpiece and see who thinks it may be overrated!
