Arthur C. Clarke's Hugo Award-winning short story The Star was first published by Infinity magazine in 1955. I read it in the anthology The Hugo Winners 1955-1960, edited by Isaac Asimov.
The Star tells the story of Jesuit astronomers examining the Phoenix nebular.
