Ep120: Al Kunek Forging Her Own Path

We’re thrilled to have home based Al Kunek join us again on Shooting The Breeze, one of our OG pod guests from Series 1, AK circles home in a reflective piece that speaks to her vast and varied experience of her European journey these last few years.

A sweet conclusion to this journey is AK’s call up to wear the Green & Gold again for the Opals in Australia’s first Asia Cup on home soil. Her knowledge, versatility and maturity shines through in this pod and no doubt will be hugely impactful for our young Opals squad as they face the dynamic powerhouse nations China and Japan.

AK brings alot of insight into the emotional as well as physical challenges of possibly THE toughest league in the world, advising other players to embrace the experience both highs and lows in order to grow, “sometimes it’s about forging your own journey and forging your own path”, but perhaps most fascinating is her view of the future in determining what success looks like, be it 3x3, playing in Europe or applying her studies to secure her financial future and sharing that learning with others.
