Is it a new dance that is danced off stage we hear our non-actor listeners ask. No- the off-stage swing is an incredibly talented person who basically saves the day whenever an injury, illness or simply a day off stops the actors/dancers cast in shows to perform.
In comes the off-stage swing- they have to learn up to eight roles of the show they're working on and be ready backstage at all times to step in whenever the need arises. Eight! Our guest Agnes Pure tells us why this is such a demanding, exciting, but sadly sometimes under-appreciated role to take on.
