Mothers are Dying; One Woman's Mission to Be the Change with Tara Thompson

There is a worsening crisis in the US maternal health world.  My guest today, 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘀𝗼𝗻, is a CNA, Prenatal/Postpartum Specialist, massage therapist, childbirth educator, doula, who in a year of pandemic and social upheaval, has made it her business to do what she can to change that.  Tara is using her talents, experience and new-found tech-savvy to effect change and save lives thru her new virtual company, Tara's Birth Services, and her new charity, Nourish in Atlanta.

The US has the highest maternal mortality rate in the developed world;   17 women die for every 100,000 live births. This is more than double what it is in any other wealthy country in the world. It's also double what it was 30 years ago so the situation is getting more dangerous for women having their babies,Black and Indigenous women, are 2-3 times more likely to die in childbirth than white women, Rural women are 60% more likely to die than urban women 

It is therefore, for no small reason, that what Tara is doing is so important. Tara works with mothers-to-be in creating the best and safest birth possible for them, through pregnancy and labor support, childbirth education, and prenatal massage, post-natal check-ins, pregnancy subscription boxes AND her new charity service to help feed and care for post-natal moms, Nourish Atlanta.
