John Oppermann is Executive Director of Earth Day Initiative. John manages the breadth of Earth Day Initiative's activities, from its large-scale annual Earth Day events to its year-round programs, including this past year's Earth Day 50 virtual events featuring Bill Nye, Al Gore, Elizabeth Warren, climate scientists, and activists. He hosts the organization's Parts Per Million podcast and oversees the Gotham Grazer sustainable food education program. 

He is also a sustainable home specialist and has a real estate brokerage practice that focuses on healthy green homes. He has taught a course titled Marketing Green Homes at NYU focused on how we can market the economic, health and wellness, and sustainability benefits of greener and healthier homes. 

John has been featured as an expert on sustainability topics by a variety of media outlets, including the Guardian, MSNBC.com, the Washington Post, and the New York Times. John graduated with a B.S. in International Politics from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and a J.D. from Harvard Law School
