In 2016, former co-workers and forever best friends Pip Edwards and Claire Tregoning joined forces and launched their street-meets-sportswear brand, P.E. Nation.

While the Australian-based activewear label has garnered a massive following and “It factor” status thanks to its sleek yet functional, fashion-inspired silhouettes and styles, its capsule collection with H&M that launched in March 2020 catapulted them onto the global stage. (The partnership marked H&M’s first collaboration with an Australian-based brand).

The athleisure phenomenon took on new meaning when everyone around the globe leaned into wearing comfortable clothing at home: COVID-19’s lockdown inspired P.E. Nation to launch a genderless, unisex collection, called “UNI-form.”

They have also recently expanded into swimsuits, always inspired by sustainability and street style.

I spoke with Pip and Claire about the evolution of athleisure, how Pip pivoted from a corporate career to fashion founder, how they choose their fashion looks before posting to IG, and finding their voices (spoiler alert: it’s a constant work in progress…)
