As moms and women, we can put a lot of expectations on ourselves. Valerie and I chat about the mental load women carry and the guilt we may experience. Valerie helps entrepreneurial moms break through their self-defeating patterns and gives tips on how to deal with the negative thoughts that may come up. One tip is to have a conversation with your people, especially your spouse, around supporting each other. How can you set healthy boundaries for yourself? Valerie says that it starts with knowing who you are! If you don’t know who you are and what you want, it’s impossible to set healthy boundaries. When you have that disconnect of not knowing who you are, people can’t treat you the way that you feel you should be treated. This can cause us to go into survival mode and feel like we are just getting by. Are you watching how you react to certain situations? Just like many of us, I am guilty of sometimes reacting in a way that doesn’t align with who I am, and I can spend days beating myself up for my reaction. Valerie and I talk more about how to approach this by simply starting a conversation with yourself. Did you react a certain way because you’re actually fearing something? We hear a lot of talk on meditation, yoga, self-care, and waking up early, etc. You don’t have to do all of it to feel that you’re taking care of yourself. You don’t have to wake up early if you’re not a morning person. Do self-care in a way that works best for you!“You have to know what you want, who you want to be and believe that you can be that person! Believe that you can enjoy your life!” - Valerie Friedlander
