Jane got to connect with Rev. Dr. E. Scott Jones for this episode of the Sex in Space podcast. Scott is the Senior Minister of the First Central Congregational United Church of Christ in Omaha, Nebraska, USA, and this episode explores his ability to navigate faith, family and sexuality while living in challenging, conservative environments.
Scott has taught in the Philosophy Department of Creighton University and is the author of Open: A Memoir of Faith, Family, and Sexuality in the Heartland. Scott grew up as a Southern Baptist in the state of Oklahoma, where he earned his B.A. in Religion and Philosophy at Oklahoma Baptist University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Oklahoma. In 2015 Scott and his former husband celebrated the birth and adoption of their son. Fathering is the true delight of Scott’s life. Scott is active as an activist and serving on non-profit boards for a variety of organizations. He is currently involved in a local clergy action network fighting for gender-affirming care for adolescents and reproductive justice in the State of Nebraska. Scott enjoys hiking, reading, gardening, home DIY projects, and travel.
