New episode out now. BROKEN LINKS

BRIT DARK ELECTRO ROCK THREESOME RETURN WITH NEW ALBUM & MORE!

BROKEN LINKS express melodic and hook laden alternative rock that is dark, haunting and potent. Loaded with atmospheric guitars, melancholic vocals and electronic soundscapes, the UK dark rock combo will reveal their stunning third album, Conflict::States, on Friday 30th April. The band have also just unleashed a spanking new single and video for the track, Pioneers - https://youtu.be/j8OtHWe6zDA

Originally drawing influences from an assortment of areas stretching from the Manic Street Preachers, Depeche Mode, and Nine Inch Nails to The Chemical Brothers and Massive Attack, BROKEN LINKS have meticulously formulated a hugely unique sound that is stacked with integrity and is utterly all-conquering. The three piece consist of Mark Lawrence (Vocals/Guitars), Lewis Betteridge (Bass), and Phil Boulter (Drums), and hail from Eastleigh. Since their inception in 2008, the threesome have constantly pushed boundaries, endeavouring with much success to create new pathways and avenues for their ever-evolving sound.

BROKEN LINKS have built a formidable and loyal fanbase following the self-release of three EPs and two albums, and by playing shows with the likes of British Sea Power, The Boxer Rebellion, InMe, My Vitriol, and The Chameleons in the UK, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, and Italy. This year, BROKEN LINKS return with their fiery new album, Conflict::States. The album is an angry declaration aimed at the current state of the world. Mark Lawrence (Vocals & Guitars) explains: “People are living in a world where they think they have choices. There are no choices. We’re on borrowed time. This album is a statement of awareness to all the shit holding society back.” From top to bottom, the album is a heady fusion of goth-electro, post-punk, and pop-rock that takes the listener on a powerful aural experience.

Pioneers is a great track to kick off the show with, packed with harmony and melodies both vocally and electronically, what I really love about this track is the perfect mix of the electronic elements meeting the guitars because they complement each other perfectly, there are moments in this the song where it kinda of reminded me of a 30 seconds to mars meets Depeche mode.
Overall, I really enjoyed this track and I hope you do!

Californian quartet Hail The Sun have released new single / video 'Misfire', taken from their album, New Age Filth, released 16th April via Rude Records (UK/EU) Equal Vision (NA).

Purchase New Age Filth here: newagefilth.com and stream here: https://hts.lnk.to/newagefilth

Speaking about the track vocalist and drummer Donovan Melero states, “'Misfire' is about feeling so detached from everyone that even while going through the motions of normal behaviors, it feels like you're watching yourself as an outsider. We often try to validate ourselves in ways we think are necessary.”

'Made Your Mark' follows previous singles 'Made Your Mark',  'Domino' and 'Parasitic Cleanse', giving a taste of the expansive and genre-defying sounds found across New Age Filth.

When Hail The Sun entered the studio to record what would become New Age Filth, they knew they were setting out to make their most collaborative and diverse album yet. The band, consisting of Donovan Melero (vocals/drums), Aric Garcia (guitar), John Stirrat (bass) and Shane Gann (guitar), spent a month living in an apartment attached to producer Kris Crummett’s studio which provided a much different experience from the creation of prior albums.

The ten songs on New Age Filth showcase the band’s post-hardcore roots blended with elements of alternative and progressive rock, proving the band’s ability to be extremely technical in instrumentation while also unleashing some of the catchiest hooks they’ve ever created. The lyrics, penned by Melero, centre around the theme of reflection, weaving through painful and emotional experiences of love, cynicism, and touching on how awful humans can be to one another.

Having sold through nine vinyl variants before the album was released, the anticipation for the record marks a milestone in the band’s career not only from a fan perspective but for the band to share these songs and watch as they take on purpose.

'Ballad Of The Headless Horseman is our next single this week and I must admit when this dropped into my inbox this week, I was instantly taken by the bands imagery and the name, Mister Misery just feels like a great band name for the genre of music this band deliver.

The track its self does not hold back its straight away in your face, and for all you circle pit lovers out there, I have no doubt when live gigs return if you have not started a pit you will when this kicks in.

Mister Misery without doubt will give the scene a much needed injection, if you’re a fan of bands like Black Veil Brides, Motionless in White, Wednesday 13 then you will be right at home with Mister Misery as this single is packed with elements of those bands the double kick bass drums, to the fast guitars with riffs and solos. This band are a must if you’re a fan of the bands I’ve mentioned as I’ve already said they are going to give the scene a much needed injection!

Yard Amrs Hollow Ankles

Quick off the back of their latest successful EP release ‘Sanctuary Lines’, Yard Arms are back again with their new single ‘Hollow Ankles’, due for release April 23rd. By far the Bristol-based melancholic pop duo’s most heart-rending and serene track since formation, bursting with alt-90s indie sensibilities and post-emo lyricism set to soundtrack your spring time.

This record is described by frontman and lyricist Noah Villeneuve as “a musing on the chronic

Stone Sour Guitarist & Songwriter, Josh Rand Teams Up With Vocalist Cassandra Carson For New Musical Partnership

THE L.I.F.E. PROJECT

Release First New Track & Video Titled

"The Nothingness"

Friday, April 23rd, 2021 - Multi-instrumentalist, veteran songwriter, and long-tenured guitarist of the Grammy-nominated rock outfit Stone Sour, Josh Rand, has today announced a brand new musical endeavor, The L.I.F.E. Project with vocalist Casandra Carson. Accompanying the announcement of the new project is the release of the group's first track "The Nothingness" which premiered on SiriusXM's Octane yesterday to much acclaim. The track features Rand's signature chart-busting, anthemic songwriting and Carson's powerfully diverse vocal prowess, providing fans with an exciting first taste of what's to come from the duo.

Nurturing the project from concept to execution, the instrumentation was written, arranged, recorded, and produced by Rand in his home studio and mixed by Josh Wilbur (Korn, Megadeth, Lamb of God, Parkway Drive) . Completing the collaborative effort with the addition of Carson, The L.I.F.E. Project presents an important milestone in an already decorated career for Rand, one that was punctuated with the addition of a one-of-a-kind vocal lead that understood how to compliment the music with her lyrical pen.  Speaking on his new project, Josh Rand shares

"I'm so excited to announce The L.I.F.E. Project and to release 'The Nothingness'. Casandra and I are really proud of the music we've been making over the last year and can't wait to share it with the world."

ABOUT THE L.I.F.E PROJECT

Arriving at the intersection of time and circumstance, multi-instrumentalist, veteran songwriter, and long-tenured  guitarist of the Grammy-nominated rock outfit Stone Sour, Josh Rand, found himself at a proverbial fork in the road.

Rotating back to real world after an extensive two-year run on the road completing Stone Sour’s Hydrograd album cycle, Rand resumed his routine of immersing himself in his craft, songwriting with clear intent - breaking new ground and exploring new sounds.  Shortly thereafter, a series of events would prompt Rand to make some significant professional decisions.

The pivot would find Rand continuing to push his creative pace as a songwriter, while devising a brand-new outlet that would feature his stylistic signature throughout. Accustomed to working with the kind of vocalist that is equally commanding and versatile, Rand knew he wanted to maintain a standard of a dynamic lead, while bringing something new to the space of hard rock and metal.

As chance would have it, just a few degrees of separation stood between Rand and vocalist Casandra Carson. The resulting introduction of The L.I.F.E. Project is a five-track EP that offers a complete presentation of a songwriter asserting his stride after more than two decades steeped in his craft. Building off the sonic stamp he established during his six albums, twenty-year tenure with Stone Sour, Rand’s current iteration holds true to his track record, without relying on it.

Stylistically, The L.I.F.E. Project is a fluid combination of classic metal sensibility and Rand’s penchant for pushing the boundaries of contemporary heavy. Between Rand’s instrumental framework, accentuated by Carson’s ability to articulate poignant stanzas, The L.I.F.E. Project remains a passion project culminating in perfect collaboration with Carson’s undeniable vocal soar, asserting an articulate aggression - a cathartic ebb and flow - that is as sincere as it is dynamic.

As a massive Stone sour fan I am familiar with Josh Rands body of work and whilst stone sour are on a hiatus, its great to see Josh not just fade into the shadows.

The Nothingless  is packed with Riffs and a lot of punch from Josh on guitar,  Casandra Carson  delivers a some awesome vocals on the track, but I could not help draw on compassions between Casandra vocal tone and that of Lizzy hale from Halestorm, not a bad comparison to be honest as Halestorm and Lizzy are awesome. I feel this single is a grower and whilst on the first couple of listens I’m not bowled over I want to hear the rest of the Ep
