We live in a world characterised by uncertainty whether it be because of global issues such as climate change, divisive elections and geopolitical tensions or more personal hardships such as job loss, family breakdown or bereavement. In the face of these uncertainties our natural impulse is to ask why is this happening? and who if anybody is in charge?

In our passage today we will see that God address these uncertainties by laying bare the vanities of idols who cant speak, demonstrating his power to direct history and pointing us towards the servant who will set things right.
