“Stranger Things”

Judges 15:1-8

Rev. Tyler Dirks

Sermon Audio

Sermon Outline:

Foolish
Genius
Conclusive & Alone

Reflection Questions:

Rigorously reflect on 1 Corinthians 1:26-31. Dwell on this paragraph the way you dwell on your issues with people who have offended you and hurt you. Make this paragraph the preoccupation for the entire month of September. And wrestle like crazy with how offensive and surgically upsetting it is for God to say this to you. And write a two page essay on how weird it is for God to choose what is low and despised in the world.
Honestly ask yourself what it would be like to live under the leadership of Samson. Really force yourself to imagine what it would be like. Now… can you honestly say that you believe ‘God is at work’ in the “ministry” of Samson!? [Hebrews 11:32]??? How does Luke 24:27 help you sit in the harrowing tension of being in community with people like Samson?
Do you actually believe this ‘Fox Story’? Really? If so, how are you going to change the way you interpret and participate in “God being at work” in your everyday life in 2023?
Why do you spend more time, energy, and emotion on your personal anxieties and drama instead of being obsessed with the once-and-for all, definitive, and solitary atonement of Jesus, and Paul’s emphasis in 1 Timothy 1:15?
