Air Force Special Warfare has implemented vast changes in their recruiting, development, and selection processes. With the new AFSC 9T500, candidates desiring the career-fields: Pararescue (PJ), Combat Control (CCT), Special Reconnaissance (SR), and TACP will forego a human-performance-based program converging all candidates under the 9T500 Air Force Specialty Code with the purpose of selecting & assigning the most appropriate Special Warfare career-field to candidates. Selection criteria is based on:
1. Candidate Preference
2. Physical, Academic, & Mental Performance
3. Character & Personality
4. Air Force’s manning needs.
The Air Force intends to increase the quantity & quality of candidates while eliminating uncertainty/confusion on which career-field is most-appropriate, assigning a specialty (PJ, CCT, SR, or TACP) to candidates after the vectoring program is complete. “The airmen's scores are assessed throughout BMT, SWOE-V and the prep course and are "heavily based on a candidate's performance," -Colonel Lopez, 330 Special Warfare Training Wing
