Greetings, Leaders!

If you were to describe one word that you would want most to define you as a leader, what would it be?

Some may say confident, intelligent, decisive, successful, brilliant, and outstanding are just a few descriptors that come to my mind.

However, when you carefully examine the lives of great leaders, you see the word "integrity" associated with their names. Why would you say integrity is an essential quality in the character of a leader? It seems to come back to the nature of the man or woman.

Every day we must intentionally guard our integrity as leaders. Our value and impact on our family and all we serve are immeasurable. Be careful to develop an attitude of integrity first. Every great leader understands the importance of stewardship of the gifts, talents, opportunities, and good works assigned for us to walk in.

You model the behavior and inspire others to follow and go beyond. You connect with people because your heart is right. A clean heart and clear conscience lead to a confident mind. Integrity is the overflow.

Think about the benefits that accrue over your life because of integrity.

Here are some that come to my mind.

1. Integrity guards you and your reputation.

"May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I trust in you."

"A man or woman of integrity walks securely."

2. Integrity will help you make the best decisions for your life and career journey.

"The integrity of the upright guides them." Proverbs 11:3

3. Integrity will increase your capacity to serve others and gain their trust.

People want to know you care about them before listening to what you say. They look for and expect the integrity of the heart. I recall a quote: "People don't care about how much you know until they know how much you care." Relationships and influence are powerful when guided by the right motivation.

I recently read a quote about a great king. I pray that this quote will define us as leaders and be part of our legacy.

"He led them with the integrity of heart and skillful hands."

4. Integrity promotes stability in our thinking through a clear conscience and a sound mind.

"Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching."

 – C. S. Lewis

Point to consider.

Let integrity be the hedge of protection around your heart. Make it your constant guide for every decision and choice you make. Remember, "guard your heart above all else because out of it will flow the issues of life."

The rewards of integrity will yield a prosperous life. I know that we all desire this for ourselves and those we serve.

Be grateful that you can be called a leader with integrity!

Victory!
