Big problems often seem insurmountable.

Ever take a math class? On the first day you were handed a syllabus that told you what you’re going to cover over the next 16 weeks.

That page or two of information probably triggered some powerful emotions. Excitement maybe? Self doubt? Fear? For me, it was the feeling that I’d been covered by a sheet of plywood and 9 tons of sand.

But then the instructor (hopefully) told you to not panic. She reminded you that if you already knew calculus you wouldn’t be taking the class, and that she was going to help you learn this stuff by breaking it down into manageable chunks.

A collective sigh of relief fell over the class, just as a trickle of sweat made it to the small of your back and right down into your pants.
