Jesus says, in today's lectionary text, "If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free."

This caused Adam and Mason to ask questions like: How do you continue in Jesus' word? What actually is the truth?

Sarah Stenson and Dr. Chris Croghan teach us that abiding in Jesus' word is something that happens to you, not something that you do. They also teach us that in a society that's trying to prove that there are multiple truths—you have your truth and I have mine—Jesus' word is the capital T truth.

That word is mercy. Mercy is categorical. You either have it or you don't. For us, we are set free in Christ's Word. Jesus forgives all your sin.

Adam and Mason ask:

What does it mean to continue in the Word of Christ? What has Jesus' word done? What is the role of reading your Bible?

Watch, The Horror, a new video series based on true horror stories from Lutheran ministries around the United States. New episodes on Saturdays in October!

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

In this four part series, we tell these true stories from ministry as if they were "horror" movies. Ministry can be scary. Don't be afraid. Join us in the mission to proclaim Jesus!

Made in cooperation between Luther House of Study and the Unite Leadership Collective. Produced by Red Braille Studios.
