Michelle Payne is a director and published playwright from Essex and currently resident director on Bugsy Malone U.K. tour. As a director she was this year short listed for the prestigious RTST Sir Peter Hall Director Award 2022.

Directing Credits:To Have & To Hold, New musical Mind Over Matter, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Dear Dead Jason by Jen Moss (NDT Broadgate), The Liberators by Michelle Payne, My Three Sisters by Holly Rose Hawgood (The Bush), Jess (The Space UK Online which received an ONCOMM for Digital Theatre - The Offies), and she co-directed Squad Goals which she also wrote and which we are talking about today.

In her writing capacity, Michelle was one of the 15 Mercury Playwrights in 2020/21 working on a new play, and is currently being commissioned to write a full length dance play for IE productions. Writing credits include ;Chelsea for the End of the Line Podcast (InkJockey), Enthusiastically, Yes! A New Musical (Long List: ALP & Aria Entertainment Chamber Musical Competition) at The Garrick, West End. Memory Box (winner: Mercury Monologues),  The Liberators, Squad Goals and  Sad About the Cows at Tristan Bates Theatre.
