In this episode, we discuss:
• his educational background in computer science
• his journey through as a student attending community college
• his transfer to UCI and the differences in education experiences as a transfer student
• finding community in orgs like SHPE and Out in Tech as a queer, Latinx person in STEAM
• programming languages and software development
• beginning his career as a (remote) Software Engineer at AT&T during a pandemic
• applying his skills as a software developer to create an entrepreneurship: PlantShelf
• discussing accessibility and inclusivity in software development and design
Andrew would like to give space to promote his upcoming personal project in the works: PlantShelf, an online marketplace and community of plant parents looking to trade their plant babies. He would also like to urge listeners to continue to stay home when they can, wearing a mask if they do leave the house, and to continue practicing social/physical distancing and washing hands. Finally, he encourages listeners to tip their waiters and waitress, who could use the extra financial support. Also, he calls on listeners to support Black-owned businesses during these tough, pandemic times.
