Ridley Scott's "Alien" got a spectacular Hollywood premiere on May 25, 1979 at the famous Egyptian Theatre. With props and set pieces and a full-sized space jockey, audiences were treated to an immersive world of the Nostromo and her crew. One errant cigarette lighter later, and the whole thing became a lesson in why we can't have nice things.
