Kirsten and Moriah are two nurses who work in hospitals in Washington state. This week, they are sharing with us their experiences during the COVID19 pandemic. This episode is dedicated to all the health care workers around the world showing up every day to care for patients, risking their own lives to help the rest of us get through the pandemic. We schmooze about many aspects of their jobs and the health care system. They explain the struggles of getting the personal protective equipment at the beginning of the crisis, how they have to protect themselves while at work and what ICU patients go through. We discuss the importance of wearing masks to minimize the spread of the virus and how frustrating it is that some people in our society are spreading misinformation about this very simple act of safety. We also discuss how much it costs to get care in the USA without insurance if a patient needs a respirator and how devastating it is for them to see patients die alone, quarantined from their families.  This episode is full of information and emotions. It's all very real and it is a direct window into the daily lives of health care workers nowadays; the Heroes of our world.
