Pinot Noir | 2XM

We love to explore the sounds of the world, and, as you already might have noticed, we don’t mind breaking the ranks from time to time. We are delighted to share the next discovery with you: our little wine excursion continues and our sip of the day is a heavenly smooth Pinot Noir with scents of Jazz, Soul, Deep House and Breaks. Please welcome the talented 2XM out of New Zealand to our bartender family!

It was in a high school jazz band when Ben and Liam first met. House music was still far, far away from their agenda. But when Ben released an ambient EP named “Chapters” after their graduation in 2016, Liam reworked one of the tracks. The resonance to their first co-production was so good they decided to continue to work as a duo – et voilà: “2XM” was born. Which, by the way, means nothing else as 2 times Murray, since both go by the last name of “Murray” (however, Ben and Liam are not related).

With a myriad of releases and records on imprints like Sloth Boogie, Blaq Numbers, Dansu Discs, Chikyu Records, The Nail Shop, Bolting Bits, Project Indigo and most recently Café del Mar, the pair have firmly set their presence in the scene.
It was their beautiful deep house gem “I don’t feel pain” out on The Nail Shop that caught our attention in late 2018. We watch and listen the talented duo ever since and love their genre-expansive and explorative style.

Ben and Liam gave us a sneak peek of what’s coming next this year: Two groovy EP's are scheduled on Eton Messy and Sengiley Recordings, as well as appearances on a VA's with Of Leisure, Sloth boogie and Backyard Wrestling (a new collective by Kamandi in Christchurch, NZ). We chose the latter, a deep and dreamy number named Psilio, as our favorite – what a tune!
