This week we welcome writer/director Jennifer Reeder to the show! She's the filmmaker behind genre darling Knives and Skin as well as Signature Move and short films like White Trash Girl and Blood Below the Skin. Her latest work is the wraparound segment of the super popular V/H/S/94, the latest entry in the VHS franchise. We talk about her feminist perspective, the concept of the dead girl in film and TV and some behind the scenes information on the making of V/H/S/94. Then we talk about how traumatizing Brian De Palma's Carrie (1976) is for a young girl just about to start her own period. We discuss puberty, how dangerous locker rooms felt, public sex education and how lacking it is and so much more. Along the way, Terry talks about an embarrassing moment in 5th grade, Jennifer talks about embarrassing her teenage son, Mary Beth describes her awkward first watch and we go way off book.

You can follow Jennifer Reeder on Twitter and Instagram. And you can check out her short videos on Vimeo. She also gives some tantalizing, yet concrete, information on her upcoming two movies!

V/H/S/94 is currently streaming on Shudder and you can catch Knives and Skin currently on Hulu. And while it's not genre, make sure to check out Signature Move (streaming on Showtime as of this episode's release).
