I Learned Something Today; On Aleister Crowley and the Practical Joke of the General

This week, we are welcoming guest Jedidiah Forrest Gainey, OTO initiate, Thelemite, co-owner of Botanica Macumba in New Orleans, and personal friend of mine. My original guest for this week had a family emergency and I was very blessed to have Jed agree to let me come record in his home so the pod could remain on schedule. Marvel in wonder as two malefic ruled people with strong Gemini placements attempt to talk about one of the most controversial occultists of all time, on a day Mercury stationed retrograde no less. Truly, the sharp cutting tones of our laughter slice away at any attempt to avoid paradox. Jed kindly breaks down some confusion I have, as a person who is not a Thelemite, on what the heck Crowley and company was on about. What does it mean to be a Thelemite versus a member of the OTO? What must it have been like to be a magician in the early 20th century? In what ways might Thelema be a progenitor to what we call Chaos Magic in today’s day and age? It's a history lesson with a little bit of philosophy packed in, and I for one certainly learned some things. I wept, I laughed. Others next wept, next Others laughed. The whole episode is a gas.
