It’s hard not to appeal to the lowest common denominator. When creating a short film it’s important to have a point of view, and fill it with characters that have similar and contrasting views. The concepts and ideas in the film challenge the audience’s preexisting beliefs and the filmmaker, in turn, shows respect for the audience.
In Kip Calendine’s ATHEISTS ANONYMOUS a young woman, struggling with her belief, attends a group meeting to find answers. Unfortunately for her, the meeting raises more questions than answers. Matt and I enjoyed the cinematography and concept of this short, while the sound design, story balance, and dialogue could use some work.
