One year ago, this week, the Taliban swept into Kabul and took control of the Afghanistan capital.
Former Tampa refugee Abbas Nazari, joins Jack Tame to discuss what the last year in Afghanistan has been like under Taliban rule.
Abbas was 7 years when his family escaped the Taliban and Afghanistan in 2001.
They were on board a small fishing boat with 400 other asylum seekers when it began to sink. They were saved by a cargo ship – The Tampa. As you may recall the ship was turned away from Australia before settling in New Zealand.
