We watched Kidd Video, a 1984 show about a teen rock band that is transported into a magic musical realm called The Flipside, where the devious Master Blaster wants to harness their music energy to take over the world. The show starts with live action kids who become animated, voiced by the same actors, and every episode ends with a return to live action for a music video!
We talk about how, despite the fact that the show is named after a single character and that character is named Kidd Video, everyone in the band seems like an equal protagonist.
We also discuss Hit Clips, vocoders, The Mitchells vs. The Machines, and a fitness center where you pretend to pilot a giant robot, or if you will, a Pacific Gym.
