Trafficking Victim: I Was Trafficked When I Was Only 12

On today's show, Sara shares her interview with human trafficking survivor and activist Dr. Ekaterina Kostioukhina.

At 12 years old, Kostioukhina was taken from her parents and forced to bear children for a child predator. While shocking and disturbing, Kostioukhina's story reminds us how this horror could happen to any family and the many ways innocent children can be taken advantage of.

Fortunately, this story does have a happy ending. Kostioukhina escaped her tragic situation and decided to dedicate her life to others through the healing power of medicine. After years of study, she was accepted into Harvard medical school. Alongside her life-saving work, Kostioukhina also teaches other doctors to spot the signs of human trafficking.
