CONSCIOUS CONCEPTION, the introductory conversation with Fabiola Perez on #MENSWORK

"Conscious conception?" WTF??
I started talking to counsellor and doula Fabiola Perez several months ago after one of her Instagram posts piqued my curiosity. As we talked I became even more curious, especially as she talked about what she sees happening for so many of her men clients after the moment of birth. For the woman this process of being born into motherhood starts at least at the moment of conception. For the father, it rarely affects us until we've watched our parental partner go through the sacrifice of labour, and then held our child in our arms. I know for me it was not even then that I felt the changes that were to happen. Fabiola's desire is to work with couples in the period before conception, to bring awareness and consciousness into the mind-body of the couple before the sex act that brings sperm and egg together. This is, I realized, another way in which we can understand the sacredness of our sexuality, as that space where we understand ourselves creating the new life of a child, and our new lives as mother and as father.
