My introduction to this morning's September 21 #Menswork Workshop is a riff on what Brandon Archer posted to Instagram this week.

Brandon is a men's coach, he does a great "call to action" in a recent Instagram post. To my mind he's right to ask men in their 30s and 40s about how they're doing with all that's coming at them. This is a busy time in most of our lives, as men. We're often trying to build businesses and/or careers, long-term relationships, families, we may have aging parents who are are needing more of our attention. Our community may be asking more of us. The world is an overwhelming place for many of us at this age —and I'd say, even into our 50s and 60s.

If any of this resonates, please reach out for help. That might look like talking to a trusted friend, a mentor or elder in your family, community, or place of worship or practice. It may mean reaching out to a coach like Brandon (you'll find him at brandonarcher.com), or doing work with John Wineland (johnwineland.com). It may mean checking into what I do (men's online programs, couples online programs, twice-monthly groups (one for men, one coed), as well as in-person retreats) at SacredBodies.ca

The important thing is that if you're feeling on the edge of overwhelmed, and especially if you're deep into "overwhelm," ask for help. I guarantee you that there is someone or some program that can help. You'll feel better. And everyone around you will feel better. And that's the bottom line for most of us men, creating and holding safe space for those we love. It's a very hard thing to do on our own.
