In this episode, we bring Gilbert Tuhabonye’s story to present day. Continuing from Parts I and II, Episodes 13 and 14 respectively, we talk to Gilbert about how he was able to forgive the people who tried to kill him. For Gilbert, running was a big part of this. We also talk to him about how he turned his story of loss and survival into hope by the way of the Gazelle Foundation, a nonprofit that provides clean drinking water for people in Burundi, Gilbert’s home country. We also talk with the president of the Gazelle Foundation, Peter Rauch. Peter is a long-time friend of Gilbert’s and he shares how the Gazelle Foundation was started on a long run while training for a marathon. Additionally, we talk about how the Gazelle Foundation enables runners all over the world to help people in Burundi, mainly with the Run for the Water.
