Today marks 100 days since the Hamas assault on Israeli civilians, committing murder, rape, kidnapping. South Africa this past week made its case before the U.N. International Court of Justice that Israel is guilty of genocide against Palestinians. - Israel denounced the S.A. case, as did the U.S. - Canada's position stated by Justin Trudeau: Canada supports the ICJ, "but that does not mean we support the case brought forward by South Africa."

On January 4, Robert Mailman (76) and Walter Gillespie (80), were acquitted by the Chief Justice of King's Bench Court in St. John, New Brunswick of murder convictions dating back 40 years. Both Mailman and Gillespie had strong alibis with witnesses placing them kilometers from the murder scene on the day of the crime. Both men were nevertheless convicted with no chance of parole for 18 years. On the first day of their second trial January 4, the Crown declared they had no evidence to present and invited the Court to acquit them both.
Mailman and Gillespie were represented by lawyers for Innocence Canada which had taken on their cause.

Yumna and Khadeja Farooq of Toronto and the rent hike of $7000 per month for their 2-bedroom apartment in Toronto made national and international headlines last September. We check in with the Farooq sisters to find out how their situation evolved at this time of economic stress for so many Canadians.

German farmers this past week-plus, in protest against their federal government's decision to slash a farmers diesel subsidy, amid other complaints against the national Berlin government, shut down many parts of Germany, including Berlin with a massive protest using farm tractors to block roads and highways. The farmers also intimidated German vice chancellor Robert Habeck as he returned from vacation and refused to allow his ferry to dock on the mainland.

In Canada, agricultural groups such as the Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association and their farmer members have strongly denounced the Trudeau government's introduction and increases of the federal carbon tax on their agricultural initiatives. Also, extremely critical of Trudeau fertilizer initiatives. How deep is Canadian farmers frustration and might Canada's farmers take public action, perhaps similar to their German counterparts?
