Today’s podcast:

London Police Service will engage in a news conference tomorrow concerning sexual assault charges against 5 members of the 2018 Team Canada juniors. How is this case likely to move forward from now through the court phase? Does 5 defendants make the cases more difficult? Will the extended time between the alleged assaults and the actions of Hockey Canada and the LPS complicate things for either the prosecution or defence, or both?
Guest: Jacob "Jake" Jesin. Law firm of Rotenberg, Shidlowski and Jesin (Toronto). Much experience in sexual assault cases.

Alberta premier Danielle Smith's transgender youth policies for the province will engage parents in the decision-making of their children under the age of 18 and roll back medical treatments including surgeries for transgender youth. The policy has met both strong opposition, as well as support.
Guest: Tiffany Gillis, trans woman and parent of two school-age children. As well, vice president of a junior oil and gas company based in Calgary. Premier Smith consulted with Tiffany Gillis on the policies for transgender youth.

Parliament's ethics committee met this past week to address questions surrounding PM Trudeau's $9300 per night freebie from a "friend" Jamaica vacation over Christmas and New year.  Interim ethics commissioner Konrad von Finkenstein refuses to investigate the PM, arguing it was indeed a gift from a friend, albeit a rich one.
We speak with two former Liberal MPs who were punished by their party for standing firm with their ethics and while in office, as well as hear their views on Trudeau's Jamaican vacation. It certainly wasn't free for Canadian taxpayers.
Guests: Michelle Simson, fmr LPC MP
       Dan McTeague, fmr LPC MP

Duff Conacher, co-founder of Democracy Watch is very critical of the appointment of von Finkenstein and of his performance as Conflict of Interest (ethics) Commissioner by Trudeau and has much to say about this issue. As well, DM has gone to Federal Court over ethics commissioner rulings or non-rulings.
Guest: Duff Conacher, co-founder Democracy Watch.
