Benefiting from the generosity of others at Christmas. There are times when a gesture of generosity makes a huge difference in another person's life. At the local IGA large brown paper bags filled with essential food items are sold for $10 each. The bags paid for by consumers are delivered to local food banks. When I checked out my groceries this week I bought two bags. Not one other person in my vicinity bought even one. One well-dressed woman who handed the person filling her grocery bag a $5 tip asked "what are those bags for". "The food bank." "Oh....how quaint."
And.....should I have turned in an older man, who looked down on his luck and who pocketed two cans of soup and headed for the exit?
