According to hurricane specialist Michael Lowry, fewer than 1% of all tropical cyclone fixes ever attain Category 5 strength. Hurricane Lee is the farthest southeast ever observed for a Category 5 hurricane in the Atlantic since records began 172 years ago. Another report has Lee intensifying by 75 knots in one 24hr period placing it in the top .04% of all 24hr intensity changes in the Atlantic. What may lie ahead as Lee churns forward? As well, the 2023 hurricane season and what may lie ahead in the years immediately to come and is it expected hurricanes will increasingly impact Canada's Atlantic provinces and central Canada's weather?
