Mass shootings continue unabated in the U.S. Some 40 mass shootings in 2023 already. We speak with Christian Heyne, vice presidnet of Policy and Programs at Brady United (United Against Gun Violence), one of the most influential national anti gun violence/crime organizations in the United States. Jim Brady, a gun owner and President Ronald Reagan's Press Secretary survived a gunshot to his head during an assassination attempt on President Reagan. Jim Brady and his wife Sarah worked with Republicans and Democrats to pass the bipartisan Brady Bill which ensured background checks were cafried out on gun sales in the U.S. Today Brady continues to work with gun owners and non-gun owners to end America's gun violence epidemic.
Guest: Christian Heyne. VP Policy and Programs at Brady United. Heyne's own family has been impacted by gun violence. On Memorial Day 2005 Christian's mother was killed while his father survived multiple gun shots by a man with a history of violence.

Caldwell in an audio visual presentation on Caldwell Securities website raises the question of whether today Canada remains a country we are proud of. - Caldwell asks what are the objectives and ambitions of government politicians. Answers politicians are preoccupied by gaining votes through photo opportunities. - As well, Caldwell says we have in many ways ceased to be country. - Questions our post-secondary education institutions. Says we don't debate any longer, but rather attack ideas. - Canada no longer seen as a destination for investment. - Argues people outside Canada view us differently and not as a dependable ally and/or economic partner. - Caldwell argues political parties foist people on us who aren't leaders.

The conversation black fathers in the United States have with their sons over interaction with U.S. police. In the wake of the brutal beating by five Memphis police officers on Tyre Nichols which resulted in the death of Nichols and the firing of the five officers who also face murder charges, the issue of the conversation black fathers have with their sons over how to engage U.S. police officers in the event the sons are faced with direct police scrutiny is being discussed. We speak with a black father about that conversation he had with his son. A conversation he first shared on RGS a number of years ago.
