Today’s podcast:
Freedom Convoy organizer Chris Barber is suing the federal government and has entered a statement of claims for Ottawa using the Emergencies Act to freeze his bank accounts and credit and debit cards and making the lives of the Barber family, as well as operating their Saskatchewan trucking business exceedingly difficult.
The lawsuit follows the Federal Court ruling the Trudeau government violated the Charter rights of all Canadians by invoking the Emergencies Act.
According to Barber's lawyers by freezing the bank accounts, credit and debit cards the federal government violated Section 24 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Guest: Chris Barber, owner of C.B. Trucking in Saskatchewan.
& Eva Chipiuk. Alberta lawyer representing Barber in his lawsuit against the federal government.
Further significant developments during the parliamentary committee hearings concerning the ArriveCan app. Also Information Commissioner investigating allegations of destroyed ArriveCan related documents.
Guest: Michael Barrett, CPC shadow minister for Ethics and Accountable Government
Former NHL (Buffalo Sabres) and Team Canada goaltender Don Edwards parents were murdered by George Lovie in 1991 near Hamilton, Ontario. Lovie had been dating Don's sister Michelle and when she stopped seeing him Lovie sexually assaulted Michelle. Then, armed with a rifle, he waited for Michelle under the porch one morning. When he emerged Michelle ran to her parents home with Lovie chasing her. Lovie broke into the home and shot to death Donna Edwards, then stabbed Arnold Edwards, several times shouting "how do you like me now?"
George Lovie has been living under day parole for some time. Two nights per week at a Correctional Service Canada halfway house and five nights a week at an apartment he has rented. The Edwards family remains very much fearful of Lovie who had a hearing scheduled for March 8 during which the National Parole Board was to hear his appeal for full parole. A great deal has happened in the past few weeks in the case.
Guests: Don Edwards and his wife Tannis.
