Today’s podcast: Yesterday in Vancouver a jury returned 5 guilty verdicts against Aydin Coban. Extortion, harassment, communication with a young person to commit a sexual offence and possession and distribution of child pornography. The young person was Port Coquitlam teen Amanda Todd who took her own life in 2012. Story has gone viral. Montreal mom living with multiple sclerosis whose two young sons opened a lemonade stand on their front lawn last weekend to raise money for the MS Society. All was well until a neighbour complained about noise and police arrived. The mom, Ayana Massa told me police were extremely aggressive. Since the incident was reported people have driven 3 hours from Quebec City to Montreal just to meet her and her sons. Sent me a photo of an acknowledgement of a $2,000 donation to the MS Society of Canada from her son. That money was raised in 3 days with the lemonade stand. Margaret Bristow of Ottawa is a chronic pain patient who has been living with increasing agony and reduced pain medication and/or help reducing her debilitating pain, although other approaches to dealing with her pain were attempted. Ms. Bristow petitioned the government for Medical Assistance In Dying (MAID) which was repeatedly refused. Now a medically assisted death has been approved and next Wednesday, August 10, Margaret Bristow will die with the help of a doctor in Brampton, ON. What is happening with the Canadian aircraft crew from Pivot Airlines in the Dominican Republic? Most recent report had their lives being threatened by prison gangs and the D.R. prosecutors trying to get the crew returned to prison. The crew found and reported on stashed drugs (cocaine) on their plane. So what is Ottawa is doing to help the crew return to Canada? According to Pivot CEO Eric Edmundson. when we last spoke a few weeks ago, the federal government had done almost nothing to help the crew.
Guests:
Carol Todd. Amanda's mother. Website: AmandaToddLegacy.org
Ayana Massa. Mother of Ness and Ariel.
Ann Marie Gaudon, registered social work and psychotherapist who deals with chronic pain and pain patients. Margaret Bristow is her friend.
