Quick Guide Review of the Book and Notes

Book Title: Strange Love

Author: Ann Aguirre

Narrator/ Available in audio: Sarah Puckett

Part of a Series: Yes! Book 1 of Galactic Love

Genre: Sci-fi Romance, Alien romance

Cover Art: Definitely the most “alien” and non-humanoid of the season! I was unsure until reading the book if that was some sort of suit, or if that was his actual “skin”.

Synopsis: He's awkward. He's adorable. He's alien as hell.

Zylar of Kith Balak is a four-time loser in the annual Choosing. If he fails to find a nest guardian this time, he'll lose his chance to have a mate for all time. Desperation drives him to try a matching service but due to a freak solar flare and a severely malfunctioning ship AI, things go way off course. This 'human being' is not the Tiralan match he was looking for.

She's frazzled. She's fierce. She's from St. Louis.

Beryl Bowman's mother always said she'd never get married. She should have added a rider about the husband being human. Who would have ever thought that working at the Sunshine Angel daycare center would offer such interstellar prestige? She doesn't know what the hell's going on, but a new life awaits on Barath Colony, where she can have any alien bachelor she wants.

They agree to join the Choosing together, but love is about to get seriously strange.

Favorite Line in the Book:

Shani:

“So far he hadn’t touched her except to install the translation thingy and the breathe therapy.. No exploratory butt stuff?”

Bridget’s sexy corner:

I’m about to fingerbang an alien.

“You didn’t have to tell me, but you opted to give that power back to me. From the very beginning, you’ve always respected my right to choose. I could go back, and it’s nice knowing that door is open, but I don’t want to. I choose you. Over and over, I will always pick you.”

She showed him her teeth again, promising vicious consequences if he displeased her. Though she was small, clearly she was cut from warrior cloth, just like Snaps.

Favorite Review:

Shani:

Rosabel rated it really liked it  4 stars

I love when the main guy is not an entitled prick who thinks he's irresistible and that by showing his dick women will fall all over him. This guy/alien was a little bit insecure, a little bit of a nerd and apparently not very appealing based on his people standards.

Ivy Deluca rated it 4 stars

There are literally no words to describe this very strange love, but it was fascinating to read. The worldbuilding is strong, the relationship between Beryl and Zylar emotionally resonates and while the sex is hands down the weirdest I’ve read, it works. If you love alien sci-fi rom and you’re looking for something very different than your typical alpha hero/damsel in distress dynamic, you may Enjoy this. I did.

Bridget:

Elise rated it 5 stars

This was so adorable, heartwarming, original and funny. Not only breaking my reading slump, but my sadness slump as well. Full review to come
