Julia Quinn told us the launch date of Bridgertons on Netflix and its…. 2020!!! HAHA! The Netflix launch dates are still top secret, but it’s already mid-October so it’s definitely coming out in October, November, or December 2020!

UPDATE: The Bridgertons is airing on Netflix on December 25th!!

She read all the scripts and know what is going to happen.

Julia is not surprised that Shonda Rhimes and Shondaland were the first ones to mine historical romance for great stories.

The series has a lot more going on because it is a TV show and there are other subplots and laying the groundwork for other seasons!

How Julia Quinn felt stepping onto the set of the Bridgertons and the sheer volume of people who work on a TV show!

She talked to us about the amazing costumes that were custom made.

Daphne has 104 costumes!

Shani was in heaven thinking about it and silent screaming.

Julia was amazed by how many makeup artists there were doing last looks and touch-ups and taking photos for continuity

How Julia is like a fairy godmother to the set and isn’t quite apart of the family that the cast and crew and she’s worried they don’t think she’s cool!

How being on set can be boring when you’re filming the same scene 14 times doing coverage and how blown away she was at how good the actors were.

Eloise and Penny’s friendship was so good onscreen they got Peneloise as their combo name because the actresses got along super well! Their friendship plays a central role in the series.

How she didn’t get to meet Julie Andrews but was thrilled she was involved.

The diverse casting of the show.

“Color-blind” casting is not the way they think about it. Shondaland was very deliberate in the way they cast the show. The creators wanted to bring color into the world. This show is not a history lesson.

How excited we are that there is more representation on the show for everyone.

Julia’s love of how they expanded the show and how the writer’s room allowed the creators to expand the show and add so many diverse opinions and people.

How impressed she is that the characters all stayed true to who they are and that they got the family dynamics so well!

It’s not so you will just buy a new cover.

It’s because they look dated and this is not how they market Julia’s books anymore so they redid them.

Also helps to get books back into the marketplace.

Julia worked at Barnes & Noble and most readers didn’t know you could order older books.

Netflix stamp on the Bridgertons new version!

Also trying to attract the reader who didn’t see it the first time it was out. Trade paperback was marketed towards a historical fiction reader.
