Beverly Jenkins Podcast Interview Beverly Jenkins’ childhood full of books

Beverly comes from a big family as the oldest of six children. Her mom was a huge lover of books and passed down that love. Beverly’s mom was so proud of her reading journey.

Bringing her own table

There were a lot of people Beverly along the way, and she said when they didn’t give her space at their table, she would bring her own table. And invite other people to that table. And her big advice, keep writing your stories.

Grew up with the movies Casablanca, and Cary Grant’s Films

Beverly says she doesn’t have one favorite part of the book to write. She thinks that romance writers are a very special group of writers because they create circumstances for the characters to “crawl through glass” to each other. And to be able to write about love, which everyone needs, it a talent.

Beverly is proud of what she does. And Beverly Jenkins loves writing romance.

Crafting characters and building a love interest

“The words are already on the page, the characters already know the story. I’m the only one who doesn’t know what is going on”. Beverly really believes she has to quiet her mind to be able to write the story that is already there. Once she writes something down, she can tell you whether the paragraph fits, and she edits as a reader, not as a writer. But doesn’t plot out her stories ahead of time.

Travel groups and researching on location

Beverly is part of a great group of women Diva Days and they love traveling together in groups of 20 or 30 and seeing the history of the place. She saw her first courting couch in Tulsa for the first time. And loves feeling the history of the place and getting inspired to write new stories.
