Rock Solid Radio -  Ep 235 - Intimacy Builders and Intimacy Busters

Merrill and Linda

PodAmp

“Everybody has a desire for emotional intimacy and physical intimacy and even spiritual intimacy, but the amount that you need could be different. And neither one is right or wrong,” explains co-host Merrill Hutchinson. Men and women tend to have very different ideas when they hear the word intimacy. These differences mean that oftentimes husbands and wives end up busting the intimacy in their marriage rather than building it up. Today co-hosts Linda and Merrill Hutchinson discuss how to build and strengthen physical, emotional, and spiritual intimacy within a marriage by sharing ten intimacy builders and busters.

Although women may tend to be more focused on emotional intimacy and men on physical intimacy, all three areas are important for a healthy and fulfilling marriage. Much of intimacy building comes down to understanding the ways your intimacy needs differ from that of your spouse and working together within that set up to strengthen your relationship. Merrill and Linda talk about ten different areas of intimacy builders and busters, some of which are acts of service, affirmation and appreciation, appropriate humor, unconditional respect, and spiritual connection.

A marriage is a partnership and it is important that you and your spouse work as a team 100% of the time. Acknowledge and respect one another’s differences and come together to build a stronger connection and deeper intimacy. To truly honor both your relationship with God and your relationship with your partner, approach one another with grace and understanding, unconditional love, and respect always.
