The picturesque East Coast beach town of Tokomaru Bay was once a busy port, a long time ago.
Now it's a more quiet settlement - which is usually about an hour's drive north of Gisborne.
But with damaged roads after storms and slash - that trip is now more like two hours, locals say.
Our reporter Leonard Powell paid a visit to hear their hopes, concerns and memories.
