Voters in the main centres are starting to show a bit more interest in the local body elections as Saturday's deadline looms.
Turnout in Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin is slightly ahead of where it was at this stage last time and Christchurch is five percentage points up.
It's a different story in the provincial cities though.
