After saying volcanic activity had reduced on Tuesday, on Wednesday there has been a sudden second evacuation of the Icelandic town of Grindavik.
The Icelandic Civil Protection Agency said they have detected sulfur gas, amid reports of a 15 kilometre "magma-filled crack" running across the country's southwest.
Reykjavik correspondent Darren Adam spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
