The United States has officially notified the United Nations that it will withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord in a year's time, 4 November 2020.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo tweeted that the US would go its own way as what he called "a world leader in reducing all emissions".
President Trump has in the past dismissed climate change as "a hoax" - argued that the accord placed an unfair burden on the US economy.
