The United Kingdom has accused Chinese hackers of trying to break into the email accounts of British lawmakers who were critical of China and said a separate Chinese entity was behind a hack of its electoral watchdog that compromised millions of people's data.
The UK's deputy prime minister Oliver Dowden says taken together the government judges those actions demonstrate a clear and persistent pattern of behaviour that signal hostile intent from China.
BBC's security correspondent Frank Gardner spoke to Morning Report.
