It's been nearly nearly six months since the roll out of the green food waste bin was completed in Auckland.
Food scraps in landfills make a lot of methane and CO2 which are harmful greenhouse gases.
There are already food waste collections around New Zealand. In Auckland, council charges an annual fee of $77.20 for the bin, even if they don't use it.
First Up producer Mahvash Ikram checked in with some Auckland residents who received their bin last year.
