More now on the unusually hot temperature in Timaru this morning, where it climbed past 27 degrees at 6am, nearby Waimate was 26.7 and Fairlie was 25
Metservice meteorologist Clare O'Connor told Morning Report it was due to a narrow band of warm air, which took the temperature from 19 degrees at 4.30 am to 27 degrees at 6 am.
